Some designers hide the spines of books to create a minimalist look. This isn't going down well. #backwardsbookshttp://on.wsj.com/2Gqy42O

Sure, why read books when you can use them as the equivalent of three dimensional wallpaper. As a former editor, this turns my stomach. #backwardsbooks

It depends on whether or not you intend to actually read the books.

This is a debate? It is a signal though- #backwardsbooks mean you don't read any books.

I take the labels off all my cans in my kitchen cabinets. Gives new meaning to pot luck dinner.

Personal choice: if you only use the books as decoration, put it backwards; if you read them often, being able to read the titles is a plus. The worrisome part? this being an issue: "an emotional debate about the correct way to store a book on a shelf" ??? Really sorry but, wtf?

It's right up there with putting files in the cabinet upside down so those nasty tabs with labels don't stick up. Equality, the exact OPPOSITE of diversity.

I buy books to read them. Not to decorate with. An assortment of spine designs can make ANY look. The spines say a lot about the people who OWN them. Books are comfortable. These just make me nervous bc I KNOW if I had to find one it would always be the LAST one I turned around.

Some ppl buy books to read them. Those who display them spine in are ideologues who always have to put their correctness on display.
