Untrue. Govt is elected to safeguard a nation, to protect a nation, to protect public health, safety, environment & wilderness, water quality, industries of a nation etc... Protect sovereignty & democracy, which is by the people for the people. @narendramodi

...it depends on how we measure it. Protectionism and Terrorism are not comparable in Norma basis. Protectionism destroys economies and creates poverty for many parties.

The US needs to focus on its own economy before that of others. It is that time. The US has put others before itself for too long. Now it must care for itself first. One must feed one's own family before that of another.

I agree with you. US must focus its own economy. Protectionism hasn’t worked in recent past. Normally destroys purchasing power for consumers & increases costs for Private Sector. We have decades of evidence investigating the problems with protectionism in many countries.

Each country is different. Results vary accordingly. Not sure there are many parallel cases to the US... But a country must make sure it is healthy before taking on too much of another's burden. It's as though other countries don't think we have the right to care for our own...

...you can check com info from http://CATO.org  https://www.cato.org/publications/commentary/truth-about-trade-history … ...every country can think and practice any commercial practice. The evidence shows protectionism doesn't work in the long run.

Thanks Mike. I've looked it over. Change and progress doesn't live in relying on the post but rather incorporating relevant aspects of it into our future.

It's not hurting the US... for a change! That's because Trump is the first US President in a long time that has done right by Americans. The globalist backlash & whining is to be expected... and ignored!

So it's wrong to protect your own country and do what's best for your own country? Nope, I don't think so. Good fences and rules make for good neighbors. There's a reason God put us in different family groups with different cultures. Not meant to combine them all.
