U.C. Berkeley is considered the birthplace of the free-speech movement. But today, many students there are calling for limits to free speech. http://on.wsj.com/2Dvhvol pic.twitter.com/f5qwvthNmV

Although these young minds don't see it that way, limiting given rights, pretty much always starts w/ good intentions. However once the erosion begins there really is no easy mechanism to slow, or stop it. History demonstrates the inevitable end is less freedom, more tyranny.

bc of dads in the home raised by mothers, or no dads at all in the home. So the boys are wimps & the girls don't trust them. To make the girls happy the boys try to be more like them, not boys, bc they didn't learn any better from Dad. #MAGA #SchumerShutdown #ReleaseTheMemo

It should be noted that they are not calling for restrictions on THEIR OWN speech, they only want to limit the speech of others.

The fact that @realDonaldTrump is @POTUS means #Nationalist #protectionist views exist - this is a reality that needs to be addressed through debates and discussion (as is the foundation of a healthy #democracy).

The far right wing disguises their horrific agenda by calling it "free speech". Let's be clear, it's hate speech.

hate speech is not free speech. Recruiting others for the purpose of hatred.. it's like comparing cannabis to fentanil. 2 completely different things

hate speech vs free speech is like fentanil or heroin or another deadly drug to cannabis, a harmless drug that still can have wonderful effects. If you give a heroin addict access to heroin others will think heroin is good.

So are you inferring that people are so weak & pliable that we need 2 protect them from opinion we don’t agree with?

just read the words and try to figure out what was said. deciphering plain English, 1 is not the same as the other, focus on that, not on what you would like to argue about.

There's a difference between limiting free speech and creating a non-abusive environment in which free speech can flourish.

Does that mean I am allowed to express an opposing view? Or must I stay in step with the herd? Only those ideas approved by committee are allowed?

My main point was not to express those ideas like a dick the way Stephen Bannon or Milo Yiannopoulos consistently do but since you mention it I do believe there are certain ideas including the ignorant prejudice of those two, for which people should be publicly shamed.

I don't know what you believe, but imagine you're a Christian and the pastor introduces a guest, a Muslim, who would like to speak. Then it turns out to be Ayman Al-Zawahiri. My point: A lot of people believe something very close to what they do without being unethical shitheads.
