Opinion: A much diminished Navy fleet has been overloaded with tasks in recent years. Accidents are inevitable under these circumstances, writes @SethCropseyhttp://on.wsj.com/2DMtAm8

Right! Because we only spend 10 times more on our navy than any other world power. Makes total sense. If our navy is “behind” then we’ve had a total mismanagement of funds or we fight too many wars or both.

Maybe the military needs to trim back the massive amount of benefits they pay out. The entitlement spending in the DOD budget is overwhelming everything. But no! We’ll just keep feeding the beast and it will want more and more!

Accidents at sea on busy shipping lanes by inexperienced/incompetant crews is down to poor training methods/poor leadership and selection.

Since I was in the Navy there are 2 constant: 1. Training at boot Camp is getting Lower compare to 70-90. 2. Navy have training as oxygen. there too many accidents in the fleet like a video game. We Know about this one but reality is 1.5 greater. This a huge Red Flag.

Maybe if we could use our military might to pound the enemy into the ground instead of fighting political paper wars. Divide, destroy and conquer but we can’t or won’t for political reasons. Until such time these events will continue. Ships will collide, equipment will fail.

This truly sounds like a lot of BS. This claim, even if more tasks were assigned, is absolutely no excuse for evitable accidents or diminished performance. We’ve a dedicated and disciplined force.

the aircraft carrier is NOT the future. it's just expensive. which, of course, to the American mind, naturally means 'good.' nevertheless, we are waaaay beyond the Battle of Midway.

The navy under obummer was forcing classes on treatment of gays, so much that mission and job took back seats.
