Every hour, the sun gives us enough light to fill our energy needs for a year—but our solar future isn’t here yethttp://on.wsj.com/2r3tNi3

@GreenMtnPower GMP is also an example of a utility that's looking past the moribund business models of yore built on energy sales, to ones based on the evolution of the smart grid.

WSJ was a solid trustworthy publication not so long time ago... What's going on? Solar sources still produces less than 1% of the US energy consumption.pic.twitter.com/bwKA14pFix

Thank Republicans. When alternative energy sources were suggested they fought tooth & nail against it giving China & other countries the lead.

After how many millions of tax dollars obama pumped into bogus Solyndra?

The other two stumbling blocks are equally bogus. Energy storage costs are plummeting. Demand response and demand side management are a piece of cake in the IoT. Just ask @GreenMtnPower.

Where did you get your numbers for 'problem 1'? Even at $1/watt installed, the levelized cost of energy over 25 years is about $0.04/kWh. That's as cheap as coal fired generation. Solar RFP bids are in the $0.02-$0.03/kWh worldwide.

Oil, coal, gas will ALWAYS be lower cost than solar....why not put more research in nuclear technologies????

And it's way too $$$$$ and not very environmentally friendly at all. Green is a bubble fueled by an illusion.

Is this a joke? Solar panels are at the very top of the list of the most inefficient forms of energy there is. 98% of the energy is wasted in heat, the size of the panels to even create enough energy to run the lights in a house are about the size of a house.
