We gave our daughter one at 9, she is now 13. However, she cannot take it to school, nor give the number out. She also has no social media accounts.

My son got his first Smart phone when he was 17 almost 18. He is now 19 almost 20. I don't believe a child should have such a thing unless they are in their teens and they can prove they are responsible.

I was allowed a cell phone at the age of 18. I think driving age is fair...so 16 in Missouri.

My kid has been bugging me for a phone. She's turning 13 and I don't thing it's still the age to have a phone. I offered her a Secured BlackBerry Keyone running Android and she refused. I'm more concerned about Apps that spy and, worst, live stream your kids. Former IT consultant

Yes. But we also provided them with the meaning of the world "no". The world has always been fraught with dangers to minors, and my wife and I gad clear ideas on what being a parent was.
