That comes to 1760 a month if you works 40 hours a week, and before taxes. Who can live on that? My VA disability comes to just shy of 3000 a month, tax free and I struggle each month. #FactsMatter

And don't they usually hire only part time so they don't have to give their employees healthcare?

the minimum wage is still lower or at federal level in a lot of places so it could be up to a $3.75 increase for some employees. they employee 1.4 million ppl domestically and 2.1 internationally. that shit adds up fast af

of course. especially with the massive amount of employees within the corporation. and percentage wise, a $2-$4 raise at that rate is a massive increase...but when the wages are so low to begin with...from a corporation that has more money than God...i would just like to see more

Oh joy. A whooping $11 an hour. Part-time employment, no healthcare, insane working hours, huge gap between workers and management, but hey workers, be happy with $11 bucks.https://goo.gl/W6D898

What I am is a realist who recognizes how pathetic a bone Wal-Mart just threw very few of its beleaguered employees, a company with so much money because it built its coffers on the backs of workers forced to work part-time for menial wages which meant no healthcare.

What exactly do you think Walmart’s net profit margin is? Let me know your best guess before you google it.

Just shows they always could do it, but just chose not to. Good to see they are finally coming around. Looks like companies really can tolerate a higher minimum wage.

Lol, what? They literally just said that they only did this because of the tax break. What about this shows they could "always" do it?

I am not buying it. The company has been making billions and had not shared it to keep costs in line. Now they throw that out the window and are pushing costs into operations and overhead with no expected return? It’s a nice gesture, but could have done it before.

Walmart ... you can do better than 11$ an hour minimum wage ... invest all the profit you will receive in tax reform with your employees and a lovable wage ....
