If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we put a man on the moon? An outside study blames NASA’s bureaucracy and contracting practices http://on.wsj.com/2CoddPi pic.twitter.com/cOC7C26h1I

I am shocked to learn that there is bureaucracy inside the U.S. government. Shocked, I tell you.

The real issue is the decades long budget cuts to NASA and other research programs. The framing of this piece is overly simplistic and devoid of the greater context of politics and scientific funding.

Interesting article and GREAT headline! We use the analogy way too much, and it can distract us from getting the basics right. Like in #healthcare.https://tincture.io/of-moonshots-and-priorities-30657b5fe9ab …

I wish I understood why we need to return to the moon. With projected deficits we should be focusing more on cleaning up NASA and funding exploration of other planets privately. Leave the million dollar re-exploration of the moon to some other country.

Not NASA! The folks that fund NASA keep changing their minds if moon mission will win them votes!

Maybe if we had a real NASA administrator instead of trump's flunkie we could have real leadership at NASA.

"Contracting practices" a problem throughout the defense industry and NASA as well?

They keep losing funding, that's the problem. But not to worry: WSJ skewered take on how NASA handles things wrong will help dismantle it entirely.

OR... we could... you know... fund human spaceflight programs AND let the people in NASA do their jobs and not have every new President sticking their nose in and casually changing policy every few years Also, to hell wth the Moon as the goal, the goal is Mars
