Will also bring less jobs as a result.

There isn't much evidence for that assertion. Seattle significantly raised minimum wages and is experiencing massive growth and a flourishing economy.

Minimum wage is always, minimum wage. Doesn’t matter if it’s 30 bucks an hour. The cost of living will reflect that!

Now let’s reconcile that with what it costs to put a roof over your head in each state.pic.twitter.com/dY6VTtqloU

Why concerned about rental prices? Isn't building wealth about owning property? Also, how many people earn minimum wage for their whole lives?

The majority of people (e.g., those that don’t have silver spoons in their mouths) have to rent before they can own. And the cost of rent, among other things, sticks them in a cycle of poverty.

Very true above renting. The poverty cycle is not accurate. We often talk about income brackets, but rarely mention the mobility within the brackets by actual people. Rarely are people in the same bracket for multiple decades. They gain more skills and earn higher wages.

Social mobility is an ideal that depends in large part on an education system that gives people the skills they need to be competitive. Unfortunately, I think our education system is failing Americans and limiting their opportunities to get ahead.

Sure, and every last dime will end up paying for their higher taxes come 2019; but hey, why not make the masses feel good for a little bit, sort of like petting a chicken before lopping it’s head off.

Don’t let Trump take credit by confusing increase wages with the “tax increase bill.”

Pisses me off when officials claim giving workers more money would hurt somehow. Funny that same sentiment is not felt for giving a trillion $$ to the rich.

The fast food place where my daughter works has trouble hiring people at about $2 over minimum wage in CO.
