I think it speaks to $100-200K debt loads without commensurate job prospects.

That must be addressed, Chris, agreed. But foregoing higher education entirely will ensure our demise. Higher education is a broad concept to me and means skills and education beyond high school. Other nations have already blown by us on higher ed.

I'm with you, but I think we need to change perception of juco and colleges need fewer Harry Potter courses, which dilute the college brand.

I do know students who made very good use of JuCo to get into the best state school/s after 2 years and with $ assistance. It can be done.

At some point we all need realize, college isn’t for everyone or every profession. There is nothing wrong with having a career and not going to college.

That's true as long as there is a career available without a degree, and those are leaving fast with increased automation.

Such a good point! I also think that the type of degree matters. I hate to say it, but without a Master’s and/or experience, certain humanities degrees don’t hold the same power on a resume as an engineering or business, for example.

I agree. I was an English major myself and needed additional certification to become competitive professionally. I believe many students don’t enter college with all of the facts of their chosen major and its prospects.

That is not accurate. May be out of context. Most innovation occur from experience within the field, not the university setting. Large projects are developed by universities, but usually with professor supervision. Ingenuity occur in the field far more than we know.

I totally agree, but I also think learning more than your single trade is important. A well rounded education opens your mind and let’s you touch on subjects you may never experience otherwise.

Universities got greedy driving up tuition to take advantage of easy money from Government by minipulating students into crippling debt, watering down curriculum and over promising faculty wages and pensions. It’s no longer about the student.

As more people get college degrees, they hold less value in the eyes of employers. At the same time, college tuition inflates substantially.
