Banks are telling customers they’re better off paying 2018 property taxes directly and settling up with the bank laterhttp://on.wsj.com/2zMfQEl

There is no reason why local property taxes should be an offset to federal taxes. Now these municipalities that have used the fed deduction as an excuse to raise property tax will have to re-think their strategies. They will have to lower them, as they should.

Exactly, my property taxes are $923 a year, where I used to live they were $5K and I don't have kids in school but I paid for that and a lot of other things I wasn't told about. Property taxes are a money grab by municipalities, now homeowners are going to demand change.

IRS has made clear that only assessed taxes may be prepaid. Most of the bankrupt cities in America (and most ARE insolvent) have not yet figured out how much of their profligate deficits must be plugged by tax increases.

Exactly. Who the heck has an 'extra' 10k in the bank they can spare? Not someone needing a tax break thats for sure.

So you mean to tell me that the Democrats are wanting the government to lose money so that states can force their people to take tax loopholes and shelters? How dare they.
