Hey @WSJ, you should reconsider who you're targeting with your sponsored posts. Articles about home ownership are wasted on a poor millennial like me.

For a number of years outsized homes were bought on the assumption that values would increase faster and could be sold at greater profit. You know, take out a mortgage on a house and you can't lose.

I've said for yrs it's not the purchase price of the house that'll kiill ya, it's the taxes. And now...it's especially the taxes....

considering the extremely
#FakeNews you published about some hearsay about the president that even the subject of the story denies 100% (but you went ahead with it anyway) I have given up the@WSJ as totally SJW converged.#goodriddance -

I really think that urban Americans should think about moving to rural America. Basically, the commute to a good job is about the same. With Amazon and Costco delivering, you can get any goods you need and property prices are WAY cheaper.
-
No pesky local businesses to deal with, putting money into community. And more driving means more accidents and worse roads! Yay!
-
Well, Walmart has already killed all of the local businesses (it is the only grocery store in this county and it is lame) and my 50 minute, 45 mile commute is virtually traffic free (vs my 45 minute, 4 mile commute in Nashville where there were always accidents).
-
So did you change jobs?
-
Yes. It took me 6 years to find a job back in Ky that actually uses my degree and pays more than $15.00 per hour. But I telecommuted for a while between Ky. and TN.
-
I'm glad you finally found one!

most problems are from buying something too small.

$100k to maintain a moderately sized paid for home? I’d like to see your math behind those numbers
-
Property taxes alone in the NYC metro can be upwards of $20-30K annually. Add in utilities, maintenance costs, etc. and it adds up. Not saying it isn’t crazy expensive, but it’s not a fictional number.
