When a child shrinks from an adult relative's hug, it's the grown-up who may need a talking-tohttp://on.wsj.com/2CaADnG

Can we just cut back on all this mandatory hugging going on...c’mon..not everyone likes to be in close contact with other human beings...and there’s nothing wrong with that!

I remember adults’ sense of entitlement to hold me, kiss me, touch me when I was young. If I protested I was a bad child. This is not healthy and is a blatant disregard for a child’s right to privacy and their own body.

Kids aren't used to be touched anymore because all they do is text. Sad

Little Miss 5 granddaughter may or may not allow me to hug. For me it's her call and I accept that. Further, she is strong willed😄

I hate hugs as an adult, leave children alone if they don’t want one. Hug your damn self if you want one so badly.

Prepare your kids (and #relatives, if need be), #communicate, set #boundaries, explain expectations and respect the personal space of #children while also teaching them to respect the emotional realities of others. Polite behavior need not include close physical contact.
