The cancer drug lomustine now costs $768 a capsule. One reason: It is among more than 300 drugs that have no generic copies even though their U.S. patents have expiredhttp://on.wsj.com/2DdEFv2

There are many generic producers already... Is it regulation that is stopping sales in USA?

The key to low cost drugs is patent reform. The real money of pharma is in buying new drugs from researchers. At the lowest level, most drugs are developed using govt (NIH) funding. If we want cheaper drugs, the govt should limit patents on drugs deceloped with NIH funds.

These are pharms that have an expired patent though. They can be produced cheaply in many instances.. Why aren't the generics being sold in the USA? Is it due to USA regs?

What a heart warming story for the holidays -- maximized shareholder value at the expense of people with cancer. How soundly execs at @NextSourcePh must be sleeping knowing their bonuses are tumour free.

My sister is dying of ovarian cancer. Although this isn't one of the drugs she's taken, it reminds me of the power drug forms have over cancer patients' lives and death.

@Loftus Quality of generics has many issues @US_FDA. @POTUS @VP As person who worked in biotech, took care of elder, has celiac-issues with generic drugs. Many food allergens in inactive ingredients, nondescript tablets confuse elderly, ACTIVE ingredients often below standard.

This is criminal. The drug companies are responsible for more deaths than they are for saving lives. This country's pharma businesses are all about greed, not healthcare.
