Hugely interesting article rightly focusing on the business model of limited choice. Its believed Aldi uses wooden shelving rather than steel because although it is actually more expensive it looks cheap... the idea of spending more to look worse is alien to most US firmspic.twitter.com/pfy1tobsPc

Good read but I’m surprise that there was NO mention of Aldi’s German competitor, Lidl, which is making and has made inroads into the US grocery market. The fact that Aldi is increasing its presence could possibly be strategic and related to Lidl’s retail plans.

Our family has survived because of Aldi low prices. Sounds like the author's grandmother was run over by an Aldi exec. Why the hate? Milk and eggs are usually 1/3 the price. Silly and over the top rhetoric.

This place sucks. It's like Sprouts or Whole Foods. Out here in CA it goes Albertsons and Staters Bros. Then Vons.

Very basic stores. Great prices on fresh produce, limes, lemons, pineapple etc. Lots of frozen crap... Just like Dollar General
