I think it's not just high taxes, most "rich" people would stay and pay the taxes of they felt like they got something back for it, but Illinois is such a mess and all the roads and infrastructure are crumbling. No ROI

And of course CT and now add VA to the list. Outmigration past 4 yrs in VA-first since 1978. CT is most moved out of state going on 5 straight years

We need taxes. We need infrastructure, safety nets etc. We need to make paying taxes a thing of patriotic pride and, importantly, of fairness. This @GOP plan favors the wealthy. It’s a short term grab, not long term and thoughtful reform.

The GOP is stupid, and states like Illinois are run by corrupt hacks with never ending desire to raise taxes as every solution. Both are true.

I’m open to both thoughts. I do not know Illinois as well as, it appears, you.

Illinois has a horrible history of taxes and overspending, along with corruption throughout the state. They have pension problems and credit rating problems. It's a disaster.

There are reasons AZ and TX are growing. Jobs and taxes are two of them.

What about New Jersey? The Land of eveN higher taxes? Can't wait for the "Going Out of Business Sale". THere should be some good buys in Government offices on rarely used brains. "SALT" will heat up the Garden State Parkway so much that salt will not be needed this winter.

Chicago is booming. Equivalent to the 21st largest economy in the world, $531B GDP. Taxes are a bit high but Rauner showed zero skill at negotiating a compromise to bring them down.
