That's only because they charge far too much tuition. Tuition increases have outpaced inflation ... almost as bad as healthcare premiums (another "subsidized" item)

Fewer applications to colleges are being received from students from foreign countries. Are they trying to enlarge the US permanent underclass with corporations expanding their internet operations?

Oh well.... I guess that schools will have to tighten their belts, improve their product and reduce tuition costs. Higher education has become a joke.

We should be making it easier to get an education, not more difficult.

That 45 person. Always "helping out" the workers." Eliminating incentives for companies to give to their workers, giving tax relief to the richest of the rich, eliminating the ACA, and next on the docket, social security.

It won't take much for this bubble to burst. Hundreds of colleges could close. These high costs have been subsidized by non-discriminating fed backed student loans. US needs more of a German model and focus on trades and advanced mfg.

This is so sad! I went to @USC, where I got my PhD, thanks to tuition remission and lecturer work. I would have never been able to afford it otherwise. How many masters and doctorates will we NOT see in the next 10-30 yrs...? Very sad.

Looks like colleges & universities will have to lower their bloated tuitions if they want to retain their enrollment numbers. About time!

Nothing says a highly educated Society than denying benefits to students who need it most. Tuition room and board can be within range of six figures per year depending on program, School and location I forgot he loves the poorly educated.

Or maybe they could dig into all of the donations they get, look at ridiculous prof salaries, look at athletic scholarships and perks, live within their means. They should not give up so soon.

Ridiculous professor salaries????? Check your facts, there. Scholarships are used to ensure our best and brightest and deserving get all the education they can tolerate.

Yes, research it, there are universities out there paying prof over $200,000 per yr. while students r struggling to pay tuition. The system is broken.

Professors who are making that much is because they bring in large amounts of grant money or other revenues. You really are on thin ice here, factually. Do some research and you will easily find the correct info.
