Women filled computer-programming jobs in the U.S. and U.K. after World War II, but some say they were then systematically pushed out of the fieldhttp://on.wsj.com/2nNFdVB

We can not solve this problem as long as we view this as men vs women issue. We should focus on bias and prejudice. Treat all as equal. Ultimately men and women are derived from a base class called "Humans"'. #OOPS #computer science

what else is new. wherever women have proven the success of an idea, industry, etc., men swarm to disenfranchise them as soon as possible.

Might have something to do with necessity? I.e. Majority of men being busy at war?

Stereotypes have always seemed to play a role in the programming world. One reason for a decline at one point in certain US populations’ interest in programming were stereotypes that arose due to H-1B immigration policies. What we need to focus on is ability, not race or gender.

This is a seriously biased article @wsj. Most notable men in the field deserve their recognition, and have achieved some of the most amazing accomplishments in human history. To dismiss that based on male gender is absolute bigotry.

This is also a field in which anyone can go to google and learn anything they want, and build anything they want. You don’t need anyone’s permission to do this. The idea that someone is being held back from doing this is pure bullshit.

Women always lead and work in every industry during war no matter what conflict it is though in many countries they are required to serve military duty along side men as well. U.S. government approved rewriting "Draft Bill to include Women and Trangenders" too.
