Prosecutors say former Trump campaign chairman violated court order by secretly working on editorial to sway public opinionhttp://on.wsj.com/2Aqgj2Z

Manafort should now go to jail. Not house arrest! Working with Russians again while out on bail? This guy is as stupid as @realDonaldTrump

I guess I don't understand what the point of that would have been. Swaying public opinion or not, the courts should be the ones to decided his guilt with evidence.

There is a point where the people in the courts are just people and can be influenced.

After examination of the evidence would a ghost written piece not be suspect and examined? The jury probably would be thrown out if that was the basis for their verdict.

If it was known that a juror was influenced by a piece, then yes, but by ghost writing a piece it is easier to go undetected.

It could help in influencing a juror before the selection, but I would think after examining the evidence the judge would suspect the jury after their verdict is rendered if the evidence was overwhelming. I guess I see a courtroom to be more impartial than the general public

It probably is more impartial, but look at the OJ trial, for instance. There were jurors at the end of the trial who said, “That was for Rodney King.” So we know jurors can be influenced before trial.

It's true that they will not get everything right, OJ was found not guilty in the criminal case, but found guilty in the civil case. But I understand what you are saying and it can make an difference in corrupting a jury, although here I don't see anyone really pro-Manafort
