        Yep! Excel is King. Access is ok too but it's the best for the simplicity and ease of use and digging in to calculations. It's also easy to teach it to those that are just coming out of college who have no or only a very basic knowledge of Excel and have them productive quickly.

        When you combine Excel with an odbc connection to the back end and start dropping your own convoluted SQL to bring back exactly the data you want to see, the value of Excel is amplified greatly. Not going away anytime soon for me.

        Now this looks like an engaging read. If everything went all Lord of the Flies and there was a pro-Excel and an anti-Excel faction, our paperclips would destroy you all. Except for invoicing and payments. Use @Quickbooks or something for that.

        Even if you have a system, excel is still valuable in documenting the decisions and designs. It can also serve as the initial source of truth
