Correct. Is was set up as an independent agency to help consumers - DIVORCED - from the political infrastructure which was beholding to WS and the banks. This pissed off Republicans BIG TIME who wanted control so they could shut it down - just like now eh? Stop sugar coating it.

Thats so simple its stupid. Congress is owned by WS & the Banks. They WONT act in the consumers interests. A *proven* fact. So the CPFB was set up under the Fed and saved consumers over 12billion dollars - which is EXACTLY what they want to stop now. Populism at its finest eh?

Trump don't want anyone suing himself or business partners in the future that's why he's going to dismantle CFPB.

It is a very political agency. A lawyer I know w years of experience & very smart was put under a 30 yr old know 'nuthin' b/c of connections, so quit. Cfpb covered for Wells but drove down community banks. Settlement money should go to Treasury or consumers not partisan groups.

You should’ve left your reporting about this debacle at this article. Instead your paper today wades into opinions and editorials that are beneath contempt and the purest form of politics not journalism. It’s deeply insulting and condescending to your readers intelligence.

No mention of how the CFPB uses shakedown money to fund left wing organizations? Strange to omit this fact!

Ur ignorance is showing. Fed & Comptroller, Credit Union regulator still in charge. It did take over FTC mortgage co regulating. Wells got away w fraud under Cfpb & banks got bigger b/c it ruined community banks.

The CFPB was created to launder money and feed it to left-wing organizations. Better start digging as this story has deep legs for Warren and the Democrats.
