Basic income isn't "free money" but the answer is yes because the economy depends on people spending money.https://medium.com/basic-income/if-you-think-basic-income-is-free-money-or-socialism-think-again-4a17e8d15b1 …

Make America great again (by printing an unlimited amount of money)! Make the new Great European Reich (EU) great by the same thing (Draghi's European Central Bank for Money Distribution). Oops, I'm becoming sea sick! As a kid of 11 I proposed this to my mom already.

It's clear that many of us have lost sight of the human dream. Hint: it's not work hard to get ahead. We favor free food, medical, and shelter for every citizen of earth. Other ambitions can be satisfied by exploiting resources or adding value.

Would make the upper 0.01% of America even richer + stabilize their rule + putting the final end to the so-called "FREE-MARKET-ECONOMY", once the base of capitalism + prosperity + American Dream. Read Noam Chomsky's book "Requiem for the American Dream"! Change the system!pic.twitter.com/BRpvaiLFVW

A universal basic income could work if it replaced the welfare state. Maybe $10k a year for every US adult if we eliminated all income transfers and subsidies (i.e. medicare, medicaid, SS, food stamps, section 8 etc. Mandatory spending is growing exponentially, perpetually.

LBJ's Great Society programs were the wrong approach when created, and also began the trend of states' over-dependence on federal grants-in-aid. Also greatly exacerbated the decline of intact families and social capital.

What about inflation. Doesn't this hurt the value of the money that is actually earned ie. working people?

That's nearly twice as what I make in yearly income at my current job. It most definitely would help poverty stricken people immensely.
