That’s because it’s not real absinthe. Thujone is still banned.

To me the cool thing about it are the decorative slotted spoons and the color. The taste isn’t my thing.

For a second I thought it said "abstinence doesn't make you crazy."

Sad! Tragically, they've been doing it all wrong! Other compounds, not thujone, lend to the bioactivity of wormwood. Other herbs ought to be used, & perhaps discard or reduce anise/fennel content, more sage, rosemary, maybe even nutmeg, HBWR...
-
I've made many a batch of what I called "herbsinthe"; adding sugar would be a fool's errand, as it was exceptionally bitter, with calamus root, ginger, even galangal, wormwood, lemon balm, rosemary...
-
A drink to have *in moderation* for the effects, not the taste. The alcohol hardly serving a role more than a medium for the magic of the herbs, spices, & more. Applied
#oilahuasca techniques, e.g. serving as part of a meal (fish, tea, etc.) could yield fruit

My elegant
#DIY#Absinthe fountain: two stacking glasses with a small hole ( the pink thing, from a broken mechanical pencil ) $0. I forgo the extended pinky spoon and sugar cube treatment, instead adding a table spoon of chartreuse.pic.twitter.com/yGXOZzAVsj

I hear Kopi Luwak makes you super-virile - like hours virile. No side effects either. Just keep it to yourself, the stuff's in short supply.

I can see why people aren't into it. It does have some additional, if minor, psychoactive effects. A light body buzz that users of hallocinogens might recognize. But it doesn't taste great or anything and the effects aren't worth the effort
