Why would a Fortune 500 company use excel to house data in the first place? That’s not what it is designed to do. Plenty of other programs that will warehouse and allow for reporting & if needed dump into excel to manipulate for reports or presentations

The 'Death of Excel' theme is becoming more frequent than religious nutters going to the mountains screaming 'The end is nigh!'

Nobody is talking about the "Death of Excel". Not in this
@wsj's article. Here, there're talking about pragmatic alternatives that are more relevant and efficient compared to Excel. Excel is here to stay. But, other sofwares/ERPs are getting better at what Excel has been doing.

Complete misuse of
@msExcel, there is a reason Access is part of the Office Suite. Export to Excel is one of the most popular buttons on most Software because, for Analysis, Excel is King in the right hands.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Automated analytical tools are great, but major issue is data sources! Data sets often have to be manually manipulated to adjust for one off exceptions, usually in excel. Data integrity and centralized warehousing need to be perfect.

Lotus 123 revolutionized bookkeeping in the 80s. Excel didn’t come out until the late 80s, and didn’t become dominant until the early 90s.

The issue is perhaps not the tool itself, but its compatibility and flexibility. But there are opportunities available to support reporting based on Excel, which may complement its drawbacks. Anyway, let's see where it will go in the next years
