It is, but it’s also scary for those of us who work at private colleges. If we’re laid off, and public schools can’t afford to hire us, we’ll either have to change careers or try to find a job out of state.

I understand and definitely see your perspective. I do think the policy of offering college to students so that they won’t graduate with tens of thousands of student loan debt is good for society and our economy.

I completely agree! Excelsior’s a great program for that reason. And it’s helpful that NYS’s also providing aid to private school students.

Is it simple cost-benefit logic or the way world economy is shaping & tilting towards the other economic power centres. If drivers of world economy is shifting to India & China, why not to study there & be embedded in the environment and develop required competitive capability?
