Nuclear plants produced almost 20% of total U.S. electrical output in 2016, and 63% of carbon-free electricity. Will nuclear lead the way? http://on.wsj.com/2AGmtJo

.no. We still don't know what to do with the waste. Dumping them to the ocean is not a solution.

It already does, just by nature of it's qualities. It will be what saves us because it sure as hell won't be weak, pathetic, intermittent, part-time, unreliable, non-dispatchable, short-lived, expensive, unscalable solar and wind. Which fail ALL the criteria used to judge power.

Short answer: Seems probable. Long answer: Even environmentalists seem less likely to violently oppose nuke plants these days since they decided coal miners are their enemy.

Nuclear leaks, either when in production or later bcuz d half life is so long. Plants are VERY $$$ making payback non-viable. ROI is pathetic.

It might be carbon-free, but there is one significant downside to nuclear power. Do you know what that is?

It needs to; one of the main reasons we have such a grim look at Nuclear is due to the aging systems that were never meant to last this long still being operational.

Half of them are leaking.... including one that's not 60 miles outside of New York City... that'll be a hoot, when that explodes..... "when," not, "if."

No not really, since no license to export, it's still here. No outrage when a Canadian firm owned the mining rights and the whole 20% has been an outright lie. Mining futures which has been in the 12-14% range for the last few years.

Canada exports its own.. uses ours ( no license needed ) . . End result Russia gets and controls more uranium.
