Well yeah, if you’re dead, you’re not returning to the hospital... hardly the preferable outcome here though...
Unfortunately between both, death is the cheaper for the health services. Less of a burden.
Worrisome..MCR imposed readmission penalties when patients are readmitted w/in 30 days. Has led to hospitals keeping patients un admitted in ER's for hrs not wanting to admit, until clear DX. They're reluctant to have pts come back if experiencing issues. Better dead than lose $
