No one is mocking Christians for wanting to pray for the victims. They're mocking Christians who think just praying is sufficient. It's not, according to the Bible itself.

Prayer itself is not what is being disrespectfed. It is the people with the power, authority, mandate, and responsibility to DO SOMETHING besides offer #ThoughtsAndPrayers. They're the ones who won't (not can't) act to bring prayers to fruitionn.

Thank you for that. As a person who believes in prayer it felt like prayer was under attack. I can definitely see the other perspective of wanting not just prayer, but also action.

I came to the conclusion that people need to find refuge when they are in pain. Every person walks a different path & clings to what works for them. Compassion doesn't require a belief system, love is universal.

Mockery is often the results of a poverty of wit.

Couldn't disagree more. When religious idiots put their superstitions and delusions out there for ridicule, or try to push them on others—including young children, it is our duty as intelligent humans to challenge those lies and abuses at every turn. Religion is a mental illness.

The problem isn't with those who have faith, it's with those who profess certainty. Faith without doubt is not faith.

That is the paradox for faith is the absence of doubt, and the trust of certainty. You can not profess true faith without certainty. I believe the issue is people's tendency to become hostile to others who challenge their strongly held beliefs instead of being willing to listen.

While you are certainly welcome to your opinion, it is contradicted by the literal definition of the word.
