I'd say don't go into any argument expecting to change minds. Go into them expecting to be open to other points of view and hope that people do the same. Arrogance and misinformation are widening the divide.

Exactly. It's better to work to understand than just repeat over and over "you're wrong", that's what so many aren't getting.

I read that many people "listen to respond rather than listen to understand". I try to understand why people feel the way they do. And I accept that we may not see eye to eye but it doesn't make us enemies.
