Thanks for avoiding the tired narrative that Xian missionaries are uninformed colonialists. Truth: most are globally minded & compassionate.

Christian missionaries STARTED & assisted colonialism in North & South America, Caribbean, Japan, the continent of African, & Australia.

Author's biases get in the way of a good book. Christianity didn't take in China? Really? It's the fastest growing faith in the country. The author seems to be letting preconcieved notions (based on liberal worldview) get in the way of facts.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/10776023/China-on-course-to-become-worlds-most-Christian-nation-within-15-years.html …

This article fail to point out the blunder they help instigate. Whatever they did after the 1920 is an attempt to rewrite history.

History is best qualified to verify that missionaries have indeed worked towards freedom justice and equality of nations. Unfortunately there is no solid example in history that proves liberty and independence was achieved by missionaries. Glad to know of verifiable examples.

Yep. Not "most." And, again, in ones that fit the aforementioned criteria. Think Pax Romana but it's our turn now. Perhaps you'd prefer China serve that role of fighting bad guys and keeping sea lanes open?

My mom, a Brazilian black girl, was lovely adopted by a USA Baptist Missionary couple. All I learned from them was about respect and love.

How absurd to imply that faithfully accepting Christian theology and prothelizing equals colonialism and racism.

The Bible teaches that every man, woman, and child is created in the image of God. It doesn't get more anti-colonialism/racism than that.

Why did they turn a blind eye to slavery in Africa? Because they were part of the plan. They had a bible in one hand and chains in the other
