        Where I grew up, we call that "selling woof tickets". All China needs do is short US debt they own, the US dollar collapses within a week.

        China has hedged debt wisely in several countries other than the US. If they must write off US debt, they'll survive. The dollar won't.

        The US gold can't cover the currency out now. Nixon killed it off in '72. It became a petrodollar, as OPEC agreed to take only US$$ for oil.

        Countries will re-align currencies. It'll be bloody, but it will sort itself. A plus is currency valuation won't be decided only by Europs.
