This should help meet the costs of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and possibly Jose. Why doesn't the #GOP understand basic arithmetic?

I am a Republican and I would actually consider that irresponsible. We have $20 trillion of debt so there's a fine line there

Big army. Big tax cut for wealthy. No health insurance, no financial regulations, no environmental protections for people.

Bush tax cuts made wealthiest Americans richer while playing major part in tanking our economy. What could go wrong this time around?

People who used their homes like ATMs and others who took interest only loans to max returns on their homes crashed the economy not tax cuts

Hard to believe the Republicans are the party of "fiscal responsibility" when their plans blow out the deficit year after year.

Over 10 years, the government will spend 40 trillion dollars. 1.5 trillion is a drop in the bucket over that time

1.5 trillion dollars is a significant fraction of 40 trillion. It is real money. America needs investment, and even a little sacrifice

mortgage payments are targeted to 30% of income, paid over 12 month. so ~1.5 mortgage payments. For most Americans, that's significant.
