I imagine the evacuation of Houston would have killed 100-300 people if done days ago. If done today, probably 10-100 times that number.

How do you evacuate a city of 7 million people? Where would they go?

Mobilizing the entire National Guard not just 3000 of them sounds necessary. Why would this be delayed?

No Houstonian was tethered to the city. Evac order or not, I surmise many would have remained in place especially after experiencing Rita

People in hospitals & assisted living can't leave on their own accord, nor stay & survive by independent means. That's why they're evacuated.

I'm sure this won't keep Houston Mayor Turner (Dem) from blaming TX Gov Abbott (GOP) for any loss of life of those he encouraged to stay...

In a city of this size, that only 5 people have died is miraculous. Hind sight is 20/20. Evacs might have caused more deaths due to traffic.

Mayor could have evacuated nursing homes and frail but that's probably to much thinking for a Democrat it is Katrina all over again
