If every guest expresses their objection to these fees at checkin and checkout I could see a change in corporate behavior in time.

Most hotels advertise, 'no added fees',otherwise one can ask, "what else do I have to pay for"?

It's like looking at a receipt for something you bought in Canada. 3 or 4 lines for just the taxes or "fees."
