I read the caption under the photo they tweeted.
-
Venus was mentioned and pictures of her are easier to find than an 18-year-old early in his tennis career. Doesn't explain tweet's wording.
-
It's easier to find an old pic of Venus than of an 18 year old in this snapchat/ instagram world? LOL
-
Well, there's a lot more inventory. Also, people know Venus vs. the 18 yo. Again, not making excuses.
-
Also, while we can embed tweet/Insta posts, we can't grab the photos to use natively in our stories or in our own social media posts.

I'm completely unqualified and I know better than that.

"was seen by some as insensitive" is the same kind of fake apology as "sorry you felt that way"
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Given the story is actually about an 18 year old boy, why is there a pic of Venus Williams accompanying the story?pic.twitter.com/YaH39NkMli
-
Exactly my question.

Captions usuallybneed to correlate with the picture. Also, title of article is in poor taste because of picture.
-
It definitely was highly offensive.
-
Not highly offensive but in really poor taste.
-
I agree.

Alternative tweet: "Our social media staff is laughably tone deaf and we got called on it. We have deleted the tweet."
