        They paid almost $1m each to send some to Cambodia. All but one has returned to their home country despite how"dangerous" it was for them

        actually it is reported here in Australia as around two and a half thousand people which makes the individual pay out substantially less

        Class action for conditions they were detained in for 4 years. Government decided it was cheaper to settle. Have to house ppl properly.

        But wasn't the conditions in Australia a lot better than where they came from? Australia did them a favor & didn't have to take them in.

        They were intercepted at sea and did not land in Australia. But it was how they were treated that resulted in the class action.

        You're welcome. Australia handed them over to a private contractor in a makeshift camp where alleged abuses occurred. Australia was going---
