Maybe someone who can do basic multiplication could teach the WSJ how numbers work? A 300 increase does not dent a 65,000 decrease.pic.twitter.com/vOatuExZEE

Urban houses would need to be worth <100x suburban/rural houses to account for this shift. In reality, they're worth maybe 2-3x.
Meaning that this Urban shift (at its absolute maximum) accounts for 2-3% of the housing shortfall.
Utterly shoddy reporting by @WSJ - a headline designed to cause consternation that then misuses %s to mask the reality.
Trash from boomers at @WSJ yet again trying to deflect blame for the result of their decades of incessant greed and failed policies.
There has been nothing for us. No wages, no jobs, no opportunities. And it's somehow our fault, not the people who fucked up the planet.
No jobs? There are jobs out there, just don't get crappy degrees and get skillful ones! Skilled Trade is highly employable
Yeah. You mean like my husband who is a firefighter with a college degree and can't afford a house. I guess his degree and trade are dumb.
Yeah. And he doesn't make shit for money!!!!
So do you work to? I work 12 hour days 4 and 5 days a week. To have insurance a roof over our head credit food necessities. It's called life
What's driving the millenials not buying homes? CRIPPLING STUDENT DEBT, UNSURE PURCHASING INFORMATION BASED ON RATE HIKES. That's all guys
Don't blame #millenials we're just moving to where the jobs are & don't want to spend 3 hrs commuting
Blame the #boomers who are terrified of their home values going down so they block new home #construction
C'mon WSJ! There's never a single factor for anything. Everything is multi-factored. Don't blame millennials! They'll outlive you.
I would loveeee to have a house. But maybe the problem is my bachelor of science in stem still makes me less than 7-11 cashier wages.
Who wants to live where there are no jobs. Jobs are always more abundant in the cities than in the sticks. Sprawl caused housing mess.
why should new houses be built if ppl are willing to buy old ones? As a 51 yr old I'm exploring the tiny & 3d print house mkt 4 retirement
How? Seriously. Baby boomers are retiring in their 3-4-5 bed homes. What happens when the boomers all reach the age when they need care?
That's a health care problem
The issues are intertwined. There will be a need for care spaces and an oversupply of homes for sale. Which leads me to my original reply.
Maybe their children should care for them in their homes
