I'm just curious why a man, who is a known gang member & drug dealer, was chosen to have his sentence communted?

Many of the commutations were people who were first-time, non-violent offenders. He may have been in a gang, but that doesn't = dangerous.

Right, but what differentiates them from other first-time, "non-violent" offenders? Some deserve leniency and others don't?

3/ It's a shitty situation. I imagine the hope he had for a fresh start and I trust that fresh start was warranted. I feel a lot of empathy.
