One of my favorite comedians is Australian and does a bit on this exact thing. Part 1: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0rR9IaXH1M0 …
best stand up routine ever. Sadly, so many facts too.
Yes, but #Australia does not have Guns Inc. which depends on mass shootings to scare people into buying more guns.
here comes the gun nuts 3....2....1.....
.@WSJ Three shot & killed in Australia in 2014 hostage standoff by ISIS supporter in Sydney December 2014 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Sydney_hostage_crisis …
@PokerVixen And here is the REST of the story. Homicide rate overall, is only down slightly.pic.twitter.com/X9IRb5CwMp
your chart just shows a squiggle when you try to zoom. We should keep guns because volume murders are more efficient? GTFO
The people are the problem. The murder rate did NOT go down. They just used a different weapon.
Read the article. No increase in firearm homicide, no 'switch' http://jama.jamanetwork.com/mobile/article.aspx?articleid=2530362&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social_jn&utm_term=062216&utm_content=article_engagement&utm_campaign=article_alert-jama …
What about Australia's porous borders? Oh, right, it's an autonomous island. Apples and oranges, WSJ.
most mass shooting in US perpetrated by Americans. Border argument invalid.
Understood, thanks for response. AUS solution is not one-size fits all. We can take lessons & modify, but replication is weak.
something has to be done rather than nothing. Reps & Dems are equally lame on this topic
I completely agree. I will have to read up on Canadian solutions, I am unfamiliar with majority of policies and practices.
it's essentially a ban on non hunting weapons, with registry. You can own shotguns/rifles no problem.
violent crime in Australia shot thru the roof after the ban there. Yay a gun didn't kill me but a knife did...Yay it wasn't a gun.
I am an Australian. What you said was wrong! Learn from our gun laws. Make you communities more safe & peaceful like ours.
so after the ban violent crime didn't go up? Homicide up 3.2% assaults up 8.6% armed robbery up 45% post ban.
show me the source of those stats. Getting rid of automatics and semi automatics stopped mass shootings - it's that simple!
again it may have stopped mass shooting but you had a net increase in violent crime. But correct mass shootings stopped.
yes it did stop our mass shootings....how is the US going with theirs?
it's a problem but I'll keep my guns. I'd rather be able to defend myself than be a victim.
with your gun, you keep nearly a third of the worlds mass shootings....think about the children.http://edition.cnn.com/2016/06/13/health/mass-shootings-in-america-in-charts-and-graphs-trnd/ …
