@WSJ Wait..I've been under the impression that Cantonese and Mandarin had "the same writing but different speech". I guess that's incorrect?

@CouchRambo@WSJ Nope. Canto is traditional Chinese characters. Mandarin is simplified. Kind of like how American vs Brits English can vary. -

@CouchRambo@WSJ yup, in Mandarin there's less strokes to most words so it's "simplified".
