@GenomicsIo@WSJ Okay so they have guidelines but what is the evidential basis? Otherwise this is middle class prejudice made into rules. -
@psychgenomics@WSJ a list of relevant publications can be found at bottom of this page: http://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/aap-press-room-media-center/Pages/Media-Kit-Children-and-Media.aspx … -
@GenomicsIo@WSJ Thanks - from the pubs no effect on cognition in larger studies but a sig increase in obesity risk w TV+irregular routine. -
@psychgenomics@WSJ and demonstrated association btw obesity & cognitive functions e.g. http://www.nature.com/ijo/journal/v27/n2/abs/802225a.html … & http://www.kapoleims.k12.hi.us/campuslife/depts/electives/dance/Physical%20Fitness%20and%20Academic%20Achievement.2.pdf … -
@GenomicsIo@WSJ Yers there is but the child studies seem to indicate obsity indep of cog func in this case. -
@GenomicsIo@WSJ IMO too much TV would cause problems but don't like seeing recommendations backed up by light or contradictory literature. -
@psychgenomics@WSJ with kids I would err on side of caution: pervasiveness of "smart" devices is too recent to draw proper conclusions - 1 more reply

@WSJ and 2/3 of households don't put parameters around usage. Parents, you'll regret those choices. Talk to, play with, laugh with your kidsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
