Notice, the word leadership isn’t mentioned.

Leadership is implied by "who lead effectively". The objection is not to those who "lead effectively", but to those who "seek the spotlight". Such vanity make one want to be "leader", but it prevents one from being "effective leader", because of bad judgment.

Such vain attention seekers are prone to deception and self-deception, they tend to cover-up or deny any mistakes, rather than correcting them. And after a "glamorous start" they often end up in failure and disgrace.

And how well do these fine people do as bosses? Interesting that the traits the workers want are those of a friend, not a boss. Next you need to find a group of said defined bosses to see how well their workers like them. That will be much tougher.

They do not say "kind", "generous", etc. They talk about not being self-obsessed attention seekers, like those common in politics. Such ego-trip people are disastrous both in business management and in government. They are "motivated", but self-delusional.
