A company that made billions off of destroying the environment now gives a paltry million. To clean up the mess it has made.

This is leadership that the GOP has yet to express. You’d think if we had a single nonpartisan issue - the collapse of life as we know it might fall under that category. Thank you Exxon.

I agree, the GOP has yet to see that climate change itself is a fact not a partisan issue. Differences of opinion in mitigation strategies could result in partisan disagreements, but the acceptance of climate change should not be disputed between parties.

A paltry million? Exxon needs to pretend they’re serious and put up some real cash. This is money from their couch cushions🙄

$1 million? When they change their business model to become a renewables energy company, then we’ll be impressed. $1 million is an insult from a company that has done so much damage.

carbon taxes have zero to do with climate change and everything to do with making government goons richer. Come on, do some basic research.

Too bad a carbon tax will accomplish nothing and is merely a government money grab.

1/2 If Exxon's serious, I'd suggest they just start paying the actual fee needed to stop climate change, of their own accord, into a fund to either be distributed back to the populace, as carbon fee promoters have suggested or better yet to be used in alternative energy programs.

2/2 They could even use it to fund their own transition into the clean alternative energy industry. Stockholders might not like it in the short term but they'll love it in the long term, both because they'll be richer and because the human race will still be in pretty good shape.
