Very unfair to Osaka. She actually felt the need to apologize for winning.

That is strange. But nowadays people say sorry 😐 for any sentiment. Sorry was poor word choice since she had nothing to apologize for.

She knew many would back Serena to win, despite her effort, she felt the match wasn't fair, when it was. She had respect for Serena as an elder and as her hero, Serena never gave her respect as a sports woman. Everyone wants to challenge everything these days.

I most often back the underdog, its exciting to see the unexpected outcome.

I wonder what the reaction would be if any other sportsperson (male or female) in any other sport walked up to the referee & told them they will never be in charge of a game they play in and calling them a thief & a liar for making correct decisions. #USOpen #USOpenFinal

Is this the first tennis match you've watched?

No. That's why I said 'in any other sport'.

If it's not your first then you're acutely aware that this type of interaction between players and umpires is typical and pales in comparison to how the men interact. I don't want to insult your logic but that comparison to other sports is in itself a false analogy.

So what you're saying is that because it's tennis, abusing the referee is okay and breaking the rules is also ok as long as you're vocal about it. Got it.

No need to be defensive. You're entitled to your opinion even if it's based on a version of events that don't correlate to what actually occurred during the match, if that makes you happy.

I wasn't :) I was actually smiling when I wrote that. Also, just so we're clear - I still think that Serena is the best tennis player of all time alongside Roger. Yesterday, she should/could have done better.

Serena Williams was angry because the umpire questiined her integrity. She was nothing but gracious to Osaka. The rules are selectively enfored.

Congratulations Naomi Osaka! You were humble and focused. The better player yesterday. Too bad Serena Williams spoilt the victory ceremony with her very disgraceful behavior!

Stats show she outplayed Serena and deserved to win. Serena unnecessarily dragged it to sexism, gender equality. No doubt Serena is the greatest. But Osaka may be the next!
