        Sure, it will open the door to Great power rivalry, but no great power can maintain hegemonic overreach forever. The United States created the Pax Americana on the foundations of the Pax Britannica, and even then it only keep the global commons free. It did not stop major wars.

        We have been a caring and highly respected country for my whole life. The unraveling of our New Deal, JFK, the Civil Rights and war on poverty of LBJ the humanity of Jimmy Carter, and the penultimate presidency in Barak Obama have left me bereft.
