There is a lot more to being a #Truck "#Driver" than actually driving the truck. No doubt there will be redundancies due to automation but humans are still necessary. Look at commercial #aviation! Most flying is done by autopilot yet there are still people in the cabin.

This “threat” is a hundred years away. They can’t even keep self driving cars from killing ppl and yet somehow, the complexities of driving a big rig will be mastered in just a few years. Ok.

This is what AI would be best at. I have a Tesla Model S that is a much better parallel Parker than I could ever be.

I can teach ya how to parallel park, you just need to know the parameters.

I much prefer pushing a button and letting my #tesla do the work.

Exactly. I never thought I had much of an ego but I do take pride in my driving and parking. My only fear is if they ever try this with motorcycles!

I do not trust automation for driving vehicles and esp big trucks. There is NO way that a computer can see what the human does or react to it in a safe way. It has already been proven in test drives with a automobile.

There is a serious shortage of drivers because school “career counselors” wrongly steer some kids towards university and high debt instead of trade schools for actual jobs in demand.

Hard punishing necessary work. 25 years is a long time to cushion the blow. Pity a symbol of independence fading to black.
