In this summer of nightmare, with the bad news by no means all out, the gag reflex of many Catholics is entirely understandable, writes George Weigel.https://on.wsj.com/2CkpQLN

The only “gag” is the one placed by dogma on the ability of Catholics to speak out or question.

Funny, no means a dig at wsj, Im not seeing a whole lot of criticism from MSM regarding this toxic and pervasive abuse of the church.Should be front page all day. Equally, Im not seeing what little criticims there are, being labeled as Cathophobic and racist.

Don't let scandals rock your faith in god and jesus. But yes, you should leave your church if it corrupt and endlessly hierarchical.

No, you fight for your church. You rise and get rid of the bad. I don't leave my church. The evil leaves the church. Wait and see

Faith is a personal decision. Lived in a parish with a priest who was of this part of the church. The older folks tolerated because that was their belief the school children avoided as we know something was wrong

Catholics need to begin to read the Bible for themselves and allow their faith to be formed by its teaching rather than customs & traditions created by the Vatican. Faith and salvation is only found through Jesus the Christ.

It's not helpful to ignore the elephant in the room. Catholics need to talk about #ClergySexAbuse and find ways to root it out of the Church. Maybe those who have been blindly defending these corrupt clergy will finally see the light...or leave. #modernism #progressivism

Of course not of faith. Faith transcends the failure & fallibility of humans. Moreover, 1% of of the cloth commits atrocities. The whole is good. Leadership catastrophe by our weakest pope in my lifetime.

Christianity is deeply flawed religion and like all religions is locked in creating fiction. Its testing and torturing which is used to steal AA's creates residue of child abusers, child molesters, increases strict homosexual activity. Its over as Truth of H is here. #HGOHD @BBC
