Many don't have the money to make bail in the first place. Showing up for court is not an option. Compare that to the likes of someone like Paul Manafort or Bernie Madoff. you have to be concerned about them even staying in the country.

There are likely exceptions to the rule that I fear will be applied regularly to the same demographic that couldn’t afford bail under the old system. I just hope that judges take this seriously enough to let poor defendants out pending their trials.
