In pleading guilty, Cohen directly implicated Trump for the first time in a scheme to violate campaign-finance lawshttps://on.wsj.com/2BxU6Cf

Cohen has pleaded guilty to violating federal laws and added that he "did so in coordination with a candidate for a federal position." It is assumed to be Trump. This is red hot.

.@realDonaldTrump and his cronies are the stupidest crooks. If they’d just stayed out of the White House, they could’ve carried on. But that was not Putin the puppeteer’s plan.

Gotcha. I know morally it’s wrong but wasn’t certain about legality. My guesses are every president elect is guilty of unreported contributions.

I’d agree it’s a rare politician who has no issues with their FEC filings, but, objectively, the Cohen admission is pretty damning. Willfully circumventing campaign finance rules to pay hush money to your former mistresses to hide their revelations before the election? SMH

We’re Dems up in arms about it when Clinton was doing it while in the White House? At the end of the day I could care who the President is sleeping with as long as he’s doing a job from an economy standpoint. Just my personal opinion though

I don’t care who he was sleeping with (though I’m not sure the evangelical base he courted would have been as supportive if they knew the truth), but I think you’re missing the issue - as per Watergate “it’s not the crime, it’s the cover up”https://twitter.com/neal_katyal/status/1032090851353096193?s=21 …

This is, to use the technical legal term, poppycock. Candidates for President don't go around paying off people w/incriminating evidence 2 weeks before an election. It's not just the 130k, it's when&why. This may have been the most significant campaign contribution in US history https://twitter.com/FoxNews/status/1032071989433966598 …

Of course the speculated issue he was potentially trying to cover up was demanding one or more of his flings have an abortion. I have no idea if that’s the case, but if it were true it would probably have had a huge impact on his support base before the election.

https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/07/obama-campaign-fined-big-for-hiding-donors-keeping-illegal-donations … Weird, it's almost as if the Obama campaign did the same thing.... OH WAIT THEY DID. No one went to jail, no talk of impeachment. Also everyone is ASSUMING it's Trump that is the "unnamed candidate". Interested to see how this one plays out.
