And no nurses, I see. Everyone always leaves out the biggest healthcare cost. And risk management, never mentioned.
Transparency and competition needs to be a part of the health industry as it is with all other industries.
Extraordinary. NHS started doing DRG-based costing in late 80s. Similar time for most other EEA countries. No need for massive time-and-motion studies to achieve data useful for decisions.
Really interesting isn’t it. I suspect the lack of a desire to control costs means it doesn’t matter to the USA system.

As if this is the first or only surgery that is exponentially overpriced for "reasons unknown".

The study techniques and solutions have been practiced by Industrial Engineers for decades. It is the incompetency of hospital administrators and doctors to not recognize the applicability of these techniques sooner.
